The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team that had gone to apprehend a suspect Malook wanted in connect with supplying firearms to the killers of RSS leader Ravinder Gossain in Punjab, was attacked viciously by villagers and neighbours of the suspect in Ghaziabad district.
The NIA team with the assistance of the UP Police conducted search to apprehend the suspected arms suppliers in Distt Meerut on the intervening night of Dec. 2-3, however, on getting more leads, further raid was conducted at the residence of suspect Malook, resident of Village Nahali, Pilkhuwa Dehat, Ghaziabad in the morning of yesterday. During the raid, a large crowd of men and women tried to obstruct the Local Police and the NIA team. Some people in the mob started firing at the parties. The firing was followed by stone pelting. The mob also caused multiple road blocks to obstruct the officials in discharge of their duties. In self defence, the UP Police /NIA personnel also fired in the air. Ct Tahjib Khan of the UP Police got injured in his leg. One official vehicle was also damaged, a press statement of NIA said.
Two suspects are currently being questioned regarding their alleged involvement in the case. Efforts are being made to locate Malook who is wanted in connection with the supply of arms and ammunition used in the killing of Ravinder Gosain in Punjab.
An FIR was file against the rioters after which one person Nazim, son of one Mobin was arrested by PS Bhojpur Thana police reg, informed Ghaziabad SP City, Akash Tomar.
