In Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida & Gr. Noida) the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prospects turned sour as it managed to win only two local body seats namely the Dadri and the Rabupura one, while the Samajwadi Party won the Jewar chairperson seat and the Dankaur seat was won by Bahujan Samaj Party. Two more chairperson seats, namely the Bilaspur and Jehangirpur seats were won by Independents. Reports point out that many BJP workers were disgruntled with the party for not giving tickets to the right candidates and hence sabotaged their own party candidates’ prospects. This is despite the fact that the BJP had won all assembly seats from Noida, Jewar and Dadri in 2017 elections.
