In view of the prevailing smog over Delhi-NCR, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked construction and industrial activities to be suspended in Delhi and neighbouring states till November 14 while the Delhi Govt. will return to implementing odd and even scheme from November 13-17. The NGT bench headed by Chairperson Swatanter Kumar also admonished the Delhi Govt. for not being able to effectively put a curb on polluting industries. The green court also banned the entry of diesel trucks more than 10 yrs old in Delhi while no vehicle will be able to ferry construction material during the period.
The court also asked the officilas to visit the hospitals and see for themselves that how so many patients were being admitted due to pollution related ailments.
The NGT further directed the officials to sprinkle water where the level of PM10 is higher.
Meanwhile, in Ghaziabad the DM had ordered that all major roads and connecting ones would be sprinkled with water to curb dust for at least a week. The Municipal Corporation is already doing this since the last 2 days.
