BJP MLA from Noida and son of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh—Pankaj Singh, met CM Yogi Adityanath on Lucknow recently, where he raised the demand for setting up of a regulatory authority as well as district school committees, in every district, to regulate the fee charged by private schools in the state, especially in Ghaziabad and Noida-Gr. Noida.
According to Pankaj Singh, apropos of school fees, parents and school administration in these regions often locked horns with each other. This, he told the CM, was due to the lack of any regulatory mechanism with regard to private schools and hence these schools unilaterally have been increasing the school fees year after year.
Notably, incidents of parents protesting fee hike across prominent schools in Ghaziabad, Noida and Gr. Noida are on the rise. The parents’ associations have alleged that neither the CBSE nor the local administration are of any help, when it comes to preventing these schools from overcharging. In fact, these bodies have always sided with the schools, the parents’ associations have alleged.
In the wake of this, it has become imperative to discuss and formulate a regulatory framework to regulate schools—especially overcharging by them. Singh urged the CM to form district committees wherein, both parents and schools will have representation with the added representation of the district administration.
